Summarized Message for the event

United National Young Peace builders
A Netherlands base Youth INGO working for peace and Non violence around the world.

UNOY Peacebuilders would like to begin by wishing all participants and organisers well on the International Day of Peace. We have been celebrating the International Day of Peace for several years now and are in fact hosting our own events in Rotterdam on this very day. Our organisation is composed of 34 youth led organizations spread all across the globe who work tirelessly and always altruistically for the peacebuilding movement. The work of peacebuilding organizations is ever more challenging in an increasingly complex world which brings with it a greater number of adversities. To achieve objectives in this sort of environment means that creativity and innovation are of fundamental importance, and the peacebuilding organisations of UNOY Peacebuilders have shown themselves to be fully capable of adapting to this climate.

London has seen increasing media coverage of violent crime committed by youth over the last year, and it may sometimes be too easy for people to tarnish all youth with the same brush. The International Day of Peace can remind us all that youth and youth led organizations are instrumental in the peacebuilding movement. Youth can bring innovation and optimism in a line of work which may sometimes be difficult to remain sanguine.

Each year, more and more members and affiliates join in with the celebrations all over the world by hosting or participating in unique and culturally diverse events. This illustrates how the International Day of Peace is growing and that its impact is reaching the furthest and remotest corners of the globe each year. The desire for peace is innate in human nature and the International Day of Peace fully illustrates this. We would like to wish all the participants an inspiring day and hope that youth will continue to celebrate the day of peace and non-violence in the years to come.
